Here are some kids winter craft ideas...
Snowglobe
You will need:
- Clean glass jar with secure lid
- Glitter
- Plasticine
- Plastic figurines
- Glue
- Ribbon to decorate
Mould the lid of your jar with plasticine. Fix your decorations to the plasticine. Fill the jar with water ¾ full. Carefully put your lid (with figurine on it) into the jar. Kids make sure the water doesn’t overflow. Add some more water if needed. When the water level is right add some glitter, for snow. Place the lid on tightly so it won’t leak, then turn your creation upside down to reveal your awesome snowglobe. Decorate the base (lid) of your snowglobe with ribbons.
Kids, ask an adult to help you glue the lid on your jar with glue. Leave the jar upright overnight to dry.
Paper Snowflake
You will need:
- Square coloured paper
- Scissors
- Sequins & glitter
- Glue
Fold your square in half to make a triangle. Fold it in half again to make a smaller triangle. Carefully cut shapes out of your triangle, remembering to leave some sections of each side uncut. Unfold your paper to reveal your snowflake. Use glue to stick sequins and glitter to decorate your snowflake.
Penguins
You will need:
- 3 Black pipe cleaners
- 1 White pipe cleaner
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Orange foam
- 1 (30cm black pipe cleaner
- 1 (6cm) white pipe cleaner
- 2 (8cm) black pipe cleaners
Make a body by coiling a 30cm black pipe cleaner around a pencil. Hook a 6cm piece of white pipe cleaner between the top third and fourth coils and around the bottom coil. For each wing, fold a 8cm piece of black pipe cleaner in half and bend the ends. Attach it by tucking the bent ends between the top third and fourth coils. Cut a beak and feet from orange craft foam. Stick the beak between the coils and secure it with a dot of craft glue. Then glue on the feet and a pair of eyes.
